Attack - Two Thousand and Fourteen
Happy New Year!
Just wanted to say big thanks to everyone who supported us throughout 2013 – it was a great year for us and we're glad to finally have gotten the album released. Big thanks to U&I magazine for including it in their Top 10 albums of 2013 and to The Journalist for including “No.1 Fan” in their Top 10 Irish Singles.
The album is available to download for just €5 from
But onward and upwards for 2014 - we are releasing a new single called “Attack” which will be out in March. We recorded it with the brilliant Karl Odlum in the famous Windmill Lane Studios - there was no sign of U2 or Van Morrison unfortunately. Really happy with it – it’s sounding big, catchy and noisy.
We will be having the launch gig in Whelans on the 29th March and will be adding some other dates also. Keep an eye out – you can follow us on twitter and facebook. Album 2 is written and we hope to be back in the studio in April to get cracking on that.
Until next time!

Hope you're having a lovely summer.
Would be great to see some of you at our upcoming gigs:
Bray SummerFest - Bray - 20th July
Indiependence Festival - Cork - 2nd August
Tumbleweed Love Session, The Cobblestone - Dublin - 10th August
For any new fans, our album is available for €5: http://thecrayonset.bandcamp.com/album/the-crayon-set
It's gotten some great reviews:
"The Crayon Set are as catchy as a virus. If you're looking for the kind of purity in indie-pop that you thought had gone missing far too many years ago, then their debut album will see you so right you'll never be wrong again”. Tony Clayton-Lea, The Irish Times
“Perfect Pop”. Hot Press
“4/5. An indie orchestra favourably compared to the likes of Arcade Fire and Belle & Sebastian.” Mark Kavanagh, The Daily Star
“This is an album packed with up-tempo infectious indie from a group with a gift for creating memorable hooks”. Entertainment.ie

Sorry – it’s been a while!
Firstly, many thanks to everyone who checked out our debut single “I Wanted You” and for the lovely feedback – and all of you who came to our gigs across the autumn. And all of you lovely bloggers and radio stations who’ve been playing it. Your cheques are in the post.
Some quick headlines for you:
Gigs – we’ll be doing some smaller ones around Dublin across March including one or 2 little acoustic sets, which are always good fun.
Album Launch – yes finally happening. We’ll be releasing the album on 21st April.
The launch gig will be in Whelans on the 21st April with special guests Heritage Center joining us on the night. Lots more details to follow.
The initial reviews of the album have been very encouraging. Irish Times rock-critic, Tony Clayton-Lea, has described the forthcoming album "If you're looking for the kind of purity in indie-pop that you thought had gone missing far too many years ago, then their debut album will see you so right you'll never be wrong again".
We’ve also been demoing new songs – album 2 is pretty much in the bag before album 1 is released! It’s sounding great if we do say so ourselves!
That’s all for now – oh watch out for our tunes on some tv programmes and such like – can’t keep track of times and dates though! Until next time.

September Crayon News (in Brief)
7 Sep 2012
We're all confused - the summer is over, but the sun arrives (well in Ireland anyways..). What is going on?!
Anyways, the video for the single "I Wanted You" is all done and dusted - have a look - just click the You Tube link above. If you'd like a FREE copy of the single and one or 2 other crayon goodies just leave your email address on the right there and we'll send on. We're very nice people really, aren't we?!
In other news, Sam Saarsteiner has just joined us on drums (check out his old band TransAutoRadio - they're really cool) and Anna Keogh is back from her year out in Berlin to play some lovely oboe and to sing some beautiful harmonies.
Bye now - stop by again soon - or better still come and see us play. Until next month...
Crayon Summer News & Stuff
25 Jul 2012
Hey there, we are having a super fun summer - hope you are too!
What have we been up to? So, we have just got our mastered album back. Big thanks to Eric James at Philosphers Barn Mastering - it's sounding great and we're all really proud of it - it's been literally years in the making. Will be releasing a single “I Wanted You” from the album in September and hope to have the video (directed by Jasmina Jasinska) wrapped up in the next few weeks. We also have been working on about 10 brand new songs - and we tried out a few live last week at our Whelans gig. They seem to go down really well!
In sadder news, after nearly 2 years behind the kit, Pete will be moving on due to work commitments. He bowed out in grand style at our gig in Whelans last week. Will miss you big man!
That's it. Oh yeah – please sign up to the side there and get lots of exclusives, free stuff etc. Don’t worry - will only send something on every month or so... and only good stuff.
And that’s your crayon update.
April Crayon News Bulletin
2 Apr 2012
We recently spent some time in the lovely Bluebird studios finishing the mixing for the album and recording 2 brand new songs which we're really pleased with - "Sick Days" and "What Happened to Me?". Despite Nick our producer nearly dying from Flu (possibly just severe man-flu) - we think it's sounding great!
The 2 tracks will be available to be streamed on Facebook for the month of April. Further details on the album release to follow over the next few weeks also!
In gig news, some pics from our last few gigs-Stag's Head and The Grand Social now available.
Looking forward to playing the inaugural Camden Crawl Festival in Dublin this May and also doing an intimate gig in Bewleys Theatre, Dublin. Hopefully lots more gigs and festivals to follow over the summer!
We have also started filming a video for "I Wanted You" which will be the first single from the album.
And that's your Crayon update!

We're looking forward to doing some stripped down acoustic versions of our tunes and to trying out some new songs we're very excited about.
Hope to catch you there!
